Voices of Aboriginal Women: Aboriginal women speak out about violence
(by CCSD and the Native Women's Association of Canada, 1991, 36 pp., #478, $7.00)
A joint project of NWAC and the CCSD, this booklet
provides the first-hand accounts of six Aboriginal
women's experiences with abuse, both of themselves
and their families, and of their culture and society.
They are survivors of a violence born of despair and
loss of hope all too widespread in Native communities.
But they are also stories of personal strength and
courage, as the concluding section on the healing
process demonstrates.
