Safer Communities
(by Richard Weiler et al., 1990, 55 pp., #397, $10.00)
How can we make our communities safer? Some regions have developed comprehensive "safer communities" strategies as alternatives to the traditional criminal justice system. This report explains the meaning of crime prevention through social development, and explores the evolution of the safer community strategy and recent trends in its application. It will be useful to individuals, community leaders, or members of government interested in developing a more comprehensive, community-based approach to crime prevention.
