Child Poverty: What are the Consequences
(by David P. Ross, Mark Kelly and Katherine Scott, 1996, 34 pp., #505, $12.00)
This is a popular CCSD publication. It is a chartbook that illustrates what we know about the links between family income and healthy child development through the use of graphs, charts and explanatory text. Here are two examples of the type of information contained in the booklet: poor children are twice as likely to drop out of school, and teenagers living in households with lower incomes tend to smoke more. The booklet also examines how Canada compares with other countries in the battle against child poverty.
