NOTICE: NATIONAL CONFERENCE
WEALTH, HEALTH AND WELFARE:
TENSIONS AND PASSIONSTENTH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE ON CANADIAN SOCIAL WELFARE POLICY
17-20 JUNE 2001UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY, CALGARY, ALBERTA
The World Health Organization defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Yet, in recent years, the notion of welfare and the redistribution of wealth in Canadian society have been steadily redefined and redirected to the benefit of the established and powerful. This has profound implications for the immediate and long-term health and welfare of all Canadians. CALL FOR PAPERS AND WORKSHOPS
The future of Canada's social health in the 21st century is dependent upon the resolve of passionate social welfare advocates and the resolution of major tensions.
We invite papers and workshops on the following themes. Submissions will be refereed. Community-based organizations/groups are also invited to submit proposals for workshops.
