Abstract

Zen and the Art of Policy Making:
Bridging Process and Capacity

Amy Seabrooke, Karen Hill and Dorothée Gizenga

Amy Seabrooke, from Wildlife Habitat Canada, carried out an internship with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Environment Canada, working on Canada's Stewardship Agenda. She will be presenting a number of models of Community Engagement, highlighting the benefits and challenges of each, drawing on her experience with various cross-Canada consultation processes.

Karen Hill, a Senior Policy Analyst from Health Canada, undertook a fellowship with the Canadian Public Health Association. She will present A review of policy processes in that organization and explore its relationship to the Code of Good Practice on Policy Dialogue that was developed through the Voluntary Sector Initiative.

Dorothée Gizenga is a Policy Advisory for the Canadian African Business Women’s Alliance who has been an intern with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade working on the New Partnerships for African Development policies. She will present a template for a Policy Cycle, and present intervention options for voluntary organizations.
