Accommodations in Calgary

Participants at the Canadian Social Forum are encouraged to book their accommodations directly with the facility of their choice as soon as possible to ensure the availability of rooms. Conference rates indicated below at each facility are only guaranteed until April 20, 2009, subject to availability.

The University of Calgary campus occupies a beautiful, park-like setting covering more than 200 hectares, an area larger than Calgary’s entire downtown.  There are numerous routes onto campus by car or bicycle depending on where you are coming from, and Calgary transit will deliver you to the University Station on the LRT, right at the University of Calgary's front door.  The University is about a 20 minute C-Train ride from the Telus Convention Centre or a 15 minute cab ride.

The University of Calgary offers a variety of accommodation options in a variety of price ranges.  Canadian Social Forum participants are able to choose from the following room types with single or double occupancy:

Traditional Dormitory ($49.47 per night): includes two single beds, desks, dressers and mini-fridge. Washroom and shower facilities are shared by gender with other guests on each floor. Basic daily housekeeping is provided. Linens will be changed every three days.

Studio Apartment ($74.69 per night): includes two single beds, washroom, and kitchen. Basic daily housekeeping is provided. Linens will be changed every three days. Cutlery, plates, cooking utensils, televisions and phones are not provided for these rooms but can be rented from the front desk in Cascade Hall.

Two Bedroom Apartments ($100 per night): includes two single beds, washroom, kitchen and sitting area. Basic daily housekeeping is provided. Linens will be changed every three days. Cutlery, plates, cooking utensils, televisions and phones are not provided for these rooms but can be rented from the front desk in Cascade Hall.

Small Hotel Suite ($104.76 per night): includes queen bed, washroom, breakfast table, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cable television, wireless and Ethernet internet connection, and local telephone. Basic daily housekeeping is provided. Linens will be changed every three days.

Large Hotel Suite ($124.16 per night): includes queen bed, twin bed, washroom, breakfast table, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cable television, wireless and Ethernet internet connection and local telephone. Basic daily housekeeping is provided. Linens will be changed every three days.

The rates quoted above do not include GST (5%) or Alberta Tourism Levy (4%).  The third or more occupant of a two bedroom apartment, small or large hotel suite will cost an additional $25 each per night plus taxes and levy.

Please note: At time of booking each guest will be required to provide payment for one night room and tax. This payments is non refundable and will be credited towards the guest’s final Statement of Account.
